Elevated in the Apennines, San Pellegrino is the highest inhabited village in Garfagnana, Tuscany. Records date back to 1110. The village, near the Apennine Pass, is on the important route that established links from Modena and Reggio Emilia to Lucca.
The village church houses the remains of the Hermit Saints, Bianco and Pellegrino. Next door is the fascinating museum which celebrates the work of the artisans of the region and gives an insight to their homes and how they worked and lived.
